One of our core values at Empath Health is having “Open Minds.” But what does that look like in everyday practice? My father used to have a cute old saying, “Everyone is a little strange except for me and you. And sometimes I wonder about you.”  If we aren’t careful, it is easy to encounter others who believe or behave differently from us and put them in a different category or label them as strange. Having open minds means meeting people where they are without judgement. Being accepting, even appreciative of our differences and all that we can learn from each other.

As we come into contact with people this week, whether they are patients, participants, family members or colleagues, let’s make a concerted effort to live out this core value of “Open Minds” in all of our interactions. We may just be amazed at what we learn!

Have a great week everyone!
