Congratulations to our February Impact Award winner, Suzanne “Sue” Rice, RN, CHPN, CPHQ, director of quality and care experience at Empath Health.
Rice has worked at Empath Health for 25 years in patient care and administration. She has done case management, nursing, admissions and now oversees the quality program. She and her team are dedicated to continuous assessment of quality and safety measures that drive process improvements. She maintains a high focus on the care experience and patient safety, as well as ensures our organization maintains full compliance with our quality reporting.
“Keeping those we serve at the heart of everything we do and every decision we make results in life-changing care experiences. It is this commitment and passion that fuels each of us who are called to do this special work. I feel so fortunate to help measure the care experience, understand what is important to those we serve, as well as guide and support our amazing staff who continuously deliver much-needed care with sensitivity and compassion,” Rice shared.
The monthly Impact Award recognizes and celebrates staff for their positive impact on others, demonstration of our values and above-and-beyond service.
Here are words from Rice’s nomination:
“Working in quality takes a pioneering heart. Sue is always looking to make things better or go with the flow when it is time. She is always trying to improve our services and comfort anyone who needs it. During the hurricane in 2017, she stayed in a shelter or assisted living facility to help those who were sick and afraid. Her voice and compassion are healing. Sue is grateful for the smallest things and will tell anyone when he or she has done a great job. I never worry when I pass on patient information to Sue because I know she will follow through and get it taken care of.”
