Becoming an Empath Health Pharmacy office volunteer positively turned life around for Cindy Donald. A former volunteer program through her church prepared her to support our mission of care and comfort.
“When I first came here, I was at a very low point in my life and depressed. I felt like I had no purpose and wasn’t giving back. I had said in high school that I wanted to help others. I get as much out of this as they get out of me,” Cindy explained.
Dedicated to hard work, Cindy’s a Connecticut native who worked her way up from clerical assistance to computer programming in her previous insurance career. For many years she has served at our pharmacy, which supports people cared for by Empath Health, including Suncoast Hospice.
Cindy goes into the pharmacy five days a week and performs computer work, covers dispatch, calls patients, trains new volunteers and much more. Her desire to make a major impact includes mastering new technology, adjusting her hours for better accommodation and working past regular business hours until close to get jobs done.
She shared, “I enjoy it so much that it doesn’t seem like work. It gives me a reason to get up every day and something to look forward to. I love the staff and volunteer coordinator. It’s very rewarding and fulfilling.”
The mission continues to uplift her.
“My heart’s in it for the community. Empath Health is empathetic and oriented toward the patients. Suncoast Hospice cares for people’s comfort and respects their dignity in their final stages. Compassionate patient care is their focus.”

Love this! And am totally impressed with the work Cindy has done through the years, as I have been able to work close beside her, observing her dedication during much of this time. Keep it up, Cindy! Glad you are here to help!
