I had the opportunity to witness a young Japanese student ambassador perform the “Tea Ceremony” for us over the weekend. You might consider making a cup of tea to be a fairly mundane task, but this was far from an ordinary experience. Every movement was deliberate, and the entire ceremony was conducted with a quiet, mindful reverence. This young student, trained by his mother who is a master of the Tea Ceremony, created for us a sacred space where much more was exchanged than a delicious cup of green tea – it was two souls recognizing and honoring the transcendent in the other.
May we tap into this creative human potential to transform everyday transactions into soul to soul connections today in the work we do, for those we serve and everyone we meet.
Have a great day, everyone!
Jim
