Congratulations to our May Impact Award winner, Regina Woo, patient concierge for Suncoast Hospice, a member of Empath Health.
Woo joined the organization nearly two years ago. As a patient concierge, she is the first person patients and families meet after the hospice consult is placed. Part of her role is to help patients and families understand the services and benefits Suncoast Hospice provides.
“It’s so rewarding to go home at the end of my shift and reflect on the patients I was able to connect with and help sign up for services, to know that going forward they would have a team managing their care,” says Woo. “It is an honor to receive this award. It warms my heart to be recognized by my peers for the work I do.”
The monthly Impact Award recognizes and celebrates staff for their positive impact on others, demonstration of our values and above-and-beyond service.
Woo was nominated by a colleague who shared:
Regina is our energetic concierge for admissions in St. Anthony’s Hospital. I have had the very great pleasure of working alongside Regina for over a year and a half. Regina meets our new referrals right where they are. She listens, informs, and then listens some more. Regina’s demeanor is calm, reassuring, confident and compassionate. Her very presence brightens patients’ faces as she introduces herself. I have enjoyed witnessing this gift she brings into the hospital room for folks.
Regina exemplifies our values well. She is a natural at making people feel safe and valued. Regina is fearless in her work. There is nothing she can’t do! If it’s something new, she laser-focuses on the learning until she’s got it nailed. She understands the organizational “picture” and recognizes that her role contributes to Empath Health’s goals. This insight on her part allows her to connect to organizational values in a personal way. Regina knows that her work matters. She understands that every encounter counts. While she can multitask like a ninja, she only has eyes, ears and heart for the person in front of her when it’s called for.
Regina is an avid learner. She’s studying formally while working in her concierge role and she seeks new knowledge in her work life every day. She is well respected by our professional partners at St. Anthony’s. Case managers, nursing leaders and physicians will contact Regina regularly to collaborate. She is genuinely friendly to all staff members at St. Anthony’s which translates into a very impactful representative for Empath Health who is walking the halls of the hospital in a striking eggplant jacket. It is a privilege to nominate Regina Woo for the Impact Award. She is deserving.
