Robert Rivera, maintenance technician for Empath Health

Congratulations to our February Impact Award winner, Robert Rivera, maintenance technician for Empath Health.

Rivera joined the organization in 2017. In his role, he helps keep the Mid-County Community Service Center running smoothly and ensures the many Empath Health team members there have what they need to continue supporting the community.

“The best part of the job is when I can make people smile,” says Rivera. “It makes me feel good knowing that people appreciate what I do for Empath Health.”

The monthly Impact Award recognizes and celebrates staff for their positive impact on others, demonstration of our values and above-and-beyond service.

Rivera was nominated by three different Empath Health team members. Here are excerpts from his nominations:

Robert is one of the most hard-working people I know. Every Sunday morning, he promptly empties the waste basket in our office, which is usually overflowing by then. It sounds like a small thing, but it’s very nice to not have to do it in addition to answering the phones. He also checks out the ice machine in the nearby kitchenette and regularly cleans it. It is sincerely appreciated to have a working ice machine and Robert does everything he can to keep the one we have in working condition. Robert is our Maintenance Guy. He is one of the most conscientious, helpful and caring people that I have met in my lifetime. He is continually looking out for us at Switchboard. Robert is always there if we need anything. He always has a smile and a happy hello.

Robert clearly cares about the small things, which when you depend on them, are not really small. He cares about people and works hard to make sure that he does everything he can to help employees.

Robert’s work is more than a job for him, it is a career. It wouldn’t be the same without him. Robert spreads cheer wherever he goes. He goes above and beyond the call of duty. Even though he is helping out with DME and spread thin, he does not neglect his work as Maintenance Crew. He is definitely an asset to Empath Health. He is all in for Suncoast Hospice with a great attitude, a smile on his face and a happy heart.
