This one goes way back. The song, “What the World Needs Now” was first recorded in 1965 by Jackie DeShannon. The lyrics were written by Hal David and the music was composed by Burt Bacharach. Even if none of those names ring a bell for you, you have probably heard the song a million times –
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No not just for some, but for everyone . . . .

This simple but profound message is even more true now than it was 56 years ago. The challenges of the past 18 months have helped to clarify what truly matters in this life. Maya Angelou’s inspiring words show us why love is at the top of that list, “Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”

May we fill our souls with love so that we can forge through all of life’s challenges filled with hope!

Have a great week, everyone!
