There is a documentary film playing in theaters now depicting the life and work of Fred Rogers, an ordained Presbyterian minister who chose the newly developing medium of television to reach children with his message of love and affirmation.

In retrospect, the topics that Mr. Rogers tackled were radical for the times although explored with such kindness and gentleness. Perhaps what stands out the most, however, is the simple goodness and the recognition of the fundamental need we all have to love and be loved.

May we draw upon that inner goodness and love to help raise us above the differences which divide us.
