If we are not careful, one of the casualties of a busy life can be our relationships. We end up missing out on those opportunities to spend time together, catch up with old friends and former colleagues, and be there to support one another through difficult times. Stephen Covey, the author of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, suggests that in planning our time, we put the “big rocks” first. This means that we clearly identify what we value most in life and plan activities in support of those cherished values before anything else. The wisdom of this approach is that all of the demands of life, many of which are urgent but not really important, will quickly fill our lives unless we safeguard time for what is most important.

May we recognize that our relationships are “big rocks” and make sure that we plan our time accordingly!

Have a great week, everyone.
