Our capacity to love: to empathize with others and extend ourselves in selfless ways for their benefit and welfare; is a truly remarkable thing. It rarely makes headlines or goes viral on social media. It’s not taught in school and doesn’t command a six-figure salary. But I would argue that it is not only the source of our joy and meaning but also the single most important contributing factor to our efforts to make our world a better place. Poet Maya Angelou describes it this way, “Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”

In these precarious times, may we fully deploy our capacity to love, fueled by a relentless hope which renders us impervious to what stands between us and our goal.

Have a great week, everyone!
