This has been another amazing year providing life-changing care and support to our community.
We are committed to delivering the highest level of care and service to everyone we serve. Many of our employees stand out in their work and dedication to living our mission and values. We are excited to announce our second year of employee Catalyst Award winners, who were nominated by staff, selected by the President’s Council recognition committee and honored at a breakfast and ceremony in December.
From maintenance support, care management and community outreach to nursing care and nursing assistant care, these recipients have made a meaningful difference to our community. They have exhibited a positive attitude, comforting presence, attention to detail, anticipation of needs, expertise, innovation, compassionate care and much more.
Here’s a look at this year’s winners and words of nominating support:
Christopher Licata, Maintenance Technician
Grateful Voices Award
Chris is always friendly. He easily adapts to multiple requests and is meticulous in his work. The ongoing impact is knowing that if Chris is in the building, you will receive the needed maintenance support with a cheerful, supportive and cooperative attitude. He is well-known to be a great team member.
Kerry Hoerner, Care Center Manager
Pioneering Heart Award
Kerry consistently tries to cut waste and increase productivity for her team. She has the hospice mission in mind, and that is to deliver compassionate care to our patients in a safe and efficient manner. Her approach to healthcare delivery is an integrated one. She helps the team deliver the care expected for our patients and families.

LaShante Keys, Community Partnership Specialist
Brave Spirit Award
LaShante has been instrumental in presenting, educating and engaging African-American communities about the wealth of services that Empath Health provides. His humble spirit and tenacious drive have opened many doors to help address many disparities and educate the community. He has been a beacon of light to many in the community.
Mildred Hernandez, Crisis Care LPN
Open Mind Award
Millie is a seasoned, kind and compassionate crisis care nurse. She provides excellent education to patients and families. With her vast knowledge, she is quickly able to instill a sense of trust and genuineness. She is non-judgmental, caring and accepting, and works diligently to provide a positive hospice experience. She brings a sense of strength, calmness and confidence.
Rabiaa Ifiss, CNA/HHA
Healing Presence Award
Rabiaa is on the front lines settling patients and families as they arrive to the Care Center. She is a quiet presence. She takes great care to assure that the needs, wants and care of our patients and families are met beyond expectation. She has an acute insight and ability to anticipate and intervene ahead of time. She has a heart for hospice that inspires and calms those around her.
