Celebrating the holidays with our families is so special. Yet, so many families in our community and in our care struggle to afford gifts and basic necessities to celebrate the season.
You can join in making the holidays brighter for our pediatric patients and their families in need through our Adopt-a-Family program. By participating, you can adopt a family, shop for gifts and needs on their wish list and drop off unwrapped items to our program.
Your generous donations along with donations, fundraising, shopping and wrapping support of our staff and volunteers make a meaningful difference. Last year 25 families were adopted and we hope to see that number grow.
“We would love to be able to help more than 25 families this year. I would like to encourage more participation and challenge our teams to adopt, too,” noted Vicki “Pepper” Haywood, MSN, RN, CPAN, the children’s program senior staff nurse/care team manager.
Jeannette Worrell, the children’s program patient care team assistant, is always amazed by the impact, saying, “The joy this brings to our children and families is indescribable. There is very little money in these homes. The teen volunteers dress up in their Santa hats and help with the deliveries. The children and families enjoy that almost as much as the gifts.”
