Today we honor the legacy of a truly great human being. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. combined a brilliant mind with a deep spirituality, a compassionate heart, and an unparalleled gift for expressing wisdom in profoundly impactful ways.
He accomplished great things in his tragically short life, but there is more work to be done in order to realize the dream that he so eloquently envisioned for us. As Dr. King once said, “Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable…Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.”
May we rededicate ourselves today to the difficult work of justice.
