Today is the Winter Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere, marking the shortest day of the year. Leading up to today, we have had less and less light with each passing day. From this day forward, daylight will begin to increase again. For millennia, the winter solstice has held significance in many cultures and faith traditions with some imagining it as the rebirth of the sun. My hope is that this day has meaning for each of us beyond the tilt of the earth’s axis – that the emerging of the light we see around us is also happening within us. The light of hope for a better tomorrow, the light of compassion for others and for ourselves, and the light of justice and equity for those who have been denied it for so long.

May we reflect and amplify the light within us not just during this holiday season, but throughout the coming year!

Have a great week, everyone!
