Today, you can see a dire need for greater compassion and empathy in our world and community. We must come together, offer a helping hand and care for one another.
At Empath Health, it is our honor to care for our community. We could not do it without help from our many community supporters. Thank you all.
It has been nearly four years since we formed and launched Empath Health to better meet the needs of our community. Through our member organizations, including our cornerstone Suncoast Hospice, we provide expert care, counseling and support services for people facing a chronic or advanced illness, making healthcare decisions or caring for or grieving the loss of a loved one.
Care for All
As a community-based and -supported nonprofit, we care for everyone, regardless of ability to pay.
Recently, Suncoast Hospice was able to admit a man who is homeless into our care. A kind police officer cared enough to bring him to us for the dignity, care and comfort he needed.
Our Suncoast Hospice Resale Shops also help bring a better quality of life for those we serve and their families by supplying essential items needed. Earlier this year, our Countryside store was able to provide an electric blanket to a 98-year-old man in our care. A caring store volunteer donated it.
“I have this thing that if I say it out loud in our stores, it shows up. It was full circle with a volunteer donating his time and bringing in his item that could help someone in our care,” said Joan Spies, Resale Shops supervisor.
In 2017, Empath Health served 3,800 people a day, touched the lives of more than 20,000 individuals and provided $4.1 million in uncompensated care to the community. This was made possible by our 1,100 employees, 1,800 volunteers, $10.5 million in public support and numerous community partnerships.
As the healthcare landscape continues to change, your support remains critical to help us adapt, grow and continue the highest level of care for our entire community.
Whether you wish to apply for a job, become a volunteer, make a donation, sign up for an event, give a planned gift, shop at our Resale Shops or other support, you will make a difference and change lives for the better.
