All of us have experienced this at one point or another. Someone does or says something that is upsetting to us, or life throws us a curve that we weren’t anticipating and we react in ways that are not helpful and that we regret later. Think of all the hurt feelings, broken relationships and workplace stress that is caused by this. Dr. Victor E. Frankl, Psychiatrist, author, and Auschwitz survivor once wrote, “Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

May our awareness of this space of freedom grow so that we can respond to the inevitable struggles of life in ways that reflect our deepest values.

Have a great week, everyone!
