This holiday season is surfacing so many different feelings and experiences for so many different people. Celebration of traditions and rituals which ground us and provide us with meaning and perspective are needing to be altered due to the pandemic. Gatherings of family and friends are also limited. Even our experience of shopping for thoughtful gifts for others probably looks a lot different than it has in years past. Many of our neighbors are dealing with the financial pressures of lost employment or under-employment and are struggling to make ends meet and cover basic needs. And in far too many homes in our community and around the world, families are worrying about and praying over sick loved ones, while other families are grieving the tragic and unexpected loss of loved ones during this holiday season.

As we continue to open our hearts to the joys and blessings in our lives, may we also commit to kindness during this challenging time. Kindness to ourselves when we feel weary and discouraged. Kindness to our colleagues who are doing the best they can under the circumstances. Kindness to all those we come in contact with, knowing that kindness is contagious and a burden shared is a burden halved.

Have a great week, everyone!
