The natural rhythms of life include periods of rest, of Sabbath. Time set aside to refrain from work, to slow the hurried pace, to cease the constant striving for one thing or another and in that quiet repose to heal, to replenish. Often, however, this gentle invitation of the soul is drowned out by the myriad demands on our time which clamor for our attention and insist that we attend to just one more thing.
May we have the inner wisdom to safeguard our vitality by honoring these rhythms of work and of rest.
